As the moon rises into the sky, the sap rises from the roots to the leaves. This is the best time to sow, harvest, plant!
The growing moon and its effect on plants
During the rotation around the Earth, the Moon rises into the sky for thirteen and a half days. It runs from the lowest constellation Sagittarius to the highest Taurus. This shift is comparable to the solar race between the winter solstice (the shortest day on December 21st) and the summer solstice (the longest day on June 21st). This period is called the lunar spring. During these thirteen and a half days, the juice rises from the roots to the aerial parts of the plants, which promotes certain gestures.
To find out if the moon is rising, note its height in the sky relative to a fixed point (tree, pillar, bell tower) at the exact time. Look at the next day, two hours later. If the star is higher in the sky, the moon rises. The moon then becomes waning, a complete movement called a stellar revolution. These two periods determine which actions must be observed first, before the constellations corresponding to plant types. Do not confuse the rising (or descending) moon with the waxing moon, which flows from new moon to full moon and has little effect on gardening.
Sow on the growing moon
When the moon grows, the juice rises to the aerial part of the plants. This is the right time to sow. Seed germination will be easier and more regular. The Moon successively crosses the constellations of Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces, Aries and Taurus. Sagittarius and Aries are favorable to plants – fruits, Capricorn and Taurus to root crops, Aquarius to flowers, and Pisces to deciduous plants.
Harvest with the growing moon
If the crop is ripe or in a suitable stage and harvested with a waxing moon, leafy greens, flowers or fruits are more loaded with sugar, vitamins and minerals. The fruits are harvested when the Moon passes the constellation Sagittarius or Aries, the flowers are Aquarius, and the leaves are Pisces.
Vaccination with the growing moon
It is better to graft plants with a growing moon, when the moon has risen, vaccinations lend themselves well. Grafted plants with a growing moon heal quickly. This happens before the roots fill the young shoots with juice. Fruit trees are grafted in the constellation Sagittarius or Taurus, rose bushes in Aquarius, and deciduous trees in the constellation Pisces.
Good luck with your work in the garden and a good harvest!
